Potassium Nitrate BP
Abstract:
Potassium nitrate is a chemical compound with the chemical formula KNO3. It is an ionic salt of potassium ions K+ and nitrate ions NO3− and is therefore an alkali metal nitrate. Potassium nitrate is one of several nitrogen-containing compounds collectively referred to as saltpeter or saltpetre.
Use/Application:
The most famous use of potassium nitrate is probably as the oxidizer in blackpowder. It is used in meat processing. Widely used as a thickening agent in soups and stews. Used in some toothpastes for sensitive teeth.

Shelf life, Storage and Packing
It should be stored in a segregated area in a cool and ventilated place away from combustible materials. Keep in a tightly closed container, sealed until ready for use. It is packed in 25kg or 50kg HDPE bags or drums as required.
