
Potassium Nitrate USP
Abstract
Potassium Nitrate is the ionic salt of potassium ions and nitrate ions. It is used in fertilizers, rocket propellants and fireworks.
Use/Application
Potassium Nitrate is used as an oxidizer in black powder. It is also used as a food preservative, as a thickening agent in soups and stews, in fertilizers as a source of nitrogen and potassium, in toothpastes for sensitive teeth, as an electrolyte in salt bridge, as an active ingredient in condensed aerosol fire suppression systems and as a thermal storage medium in power generation systems.

Shelf life, Storage and Packing
It should be stored in a segregated area in a cool and ventilated place away from combustible materials. Keep in a tightly closed container, sealed until ready for use. It is packed in 25kg or 50kg HDPE bags or drums as required.
