Potassium Iodide IP
Abstract
Potassium Iodide is an inorganic compound that occurs as a white salt and is hygroscopic in nature. It is used medicinally for thyroid blockade, thyroid storm and also as an expectorant.
Use/Application
Potassium Iodide is used with silver nitrate to make silver iodide. It is a component in some disinfectants and hair treatment chemicals, as a fluorescence quenching agent in biomedical research, in organic synthesis in the preparation of aryl iodides and as a nutritional supplement in animal feeds and human diet.
