Potassium Chloride IP

Abstract
Potassium Chloride is a metal halide salt that has a white or colorless vitreous crystal appearance. It is extracted from minerals sylvite, carnallite and potash. Its solution has a salt like taste and is used in scientific applications, medicine and food processing.

Use/Application
Potassium Chloride is used for making fertilizer, in manufacture of potassium hydroxide and potassium metal and in medicine, lethal injections, scientific applications, food processing and sodium free substitute for table salt. It is also used in some deicing products, as a fire extinguishing agent, as a flux for gas welding of aluminium and to produce heat packs.
