Magnesium Carbonate USP

Abstract
Magnesium Carbonate is an inorganic salt that occurs as a white solid. It occurs in several hydrated forms such as anhydrous, monohydrate, dehydrate, trihydrate and pentahydrate.

 

Use/Application
Magnesium Carbonate is used in the production of Magnesium Oxide. It is also used in flooring, fireproofing, fire extinguishing components, dusting powder and toothpaste. It is also used as a filler material, smoke suppressant in plastics, a reinforcing agent in neoprene rubber, a drying agent, a laxative to loosen the bowels, and for color retention in foods. It is also used as a food additive and in taxidermy for whitening skulls.

Shelf life, Storage and Packing

It should be stored in a segregated area in a cool and ventilated place away from combustible materials. Keep in a tightly closed container, sealed until ready for use. It is packed in 25kg or 50kg HDPE bags or drums as required.
