Calcium Lactate BP

Abstract
Calcium Lactate is a white crystalline salt made by the action of lactic acid on calcium carbonate.  It forms several hydrates, the most common being the pentahydrate C
6H10CaO6·5H2O. It is used as a food additive and is known by the E number E327.

Use/Application
Used as firming agent, a flavor enhancer or flavoring agent, a leavening agent, a nutritional supplement, and a stabilizer and thickener. Used in water treatment as a coagulant. Also used as a bioconcrete.
