Calcium Acetate BP

Abstract
Calcium Acetate also known as calcium ethanoate is the calcium salt of acetic acid. It is highly hygroscopic therefore the monohydrate is the common form.

Use/Application
Calcium acetate is used as a food additive, as a stabilizer, buffer and sequestrant. It is used to lower blood levels of phosphate as calcium acetate binds phosphate in the diet.
