Ammonium Chloride IP
Abstract
Ammonium Chloride is a mildly acidic, white, crystalline salt that is highly soluble in water. The mineralogical form of ammonium chloride is commonly formed on burning coal dumps, due to condensation of coal derived gases and also in some types of volcanic vents.
Use/Application
Ammonium Chloride is used as a nitrogen source in fertilizers, as a flux in preparing metals to be tin coated, galvanized or soldered. It is used as an expectorant in cough medicine, as a food additive, in the laboratory and as an electrolyte in zinc-carbon batteries.
